Chevrolet Repair: hood latch, hood latch, hood cable

Question
when i pull the hood release nothing happens.  THE HOOD IS STUCK shut.  please tell me how to fix this or if there is anything i can try.

If the hood cable is NOT broken, have someone push down hard on the front of the hood, then pull the release, you may have to pull a few times as they inda bounce the hood up and down, it should pop then, however if the cable is broken you will be better off stopping by a local body shop and have them open it for you , to explain how to do this would be to difficult here
