Chevrolet Repair: 94c1500 front shock removal, shock rod, vise grips

What is the best way to remove the top nut on the front shocks of a 94 chev c1500 2wd pickup. Have never been removed since new and very rusted on. Thanks

Hi Brian,
There is a little "Lysle" tool kit for just that purpose at parts stores.

Or...if you know you are never going to use that shock again, a pair of vise grips stuck thru the coil spring, and clamped on the shock rod will hold it while you take the nuts off. Don't do that when puting them on.
