Chevrolet Repair: Chevy S10, bosch wiper blades, bosch spark plugs

Hi,

I have a 1995 Chevy S10 with the 4.3l 5 speed manual transmission. I would like to know what type of fluid should be used in the transmission. All the dealers I check say just use the GM oil but dont have specs. My problem is that I am in st. Lucia in the Caribbean and thus cant get my hands on original GM oil, is there some sort of substitute or do you know the specs and grade required? I hope you can help me, and thank you for your help,
