Chevrolet Repair: temp sensor on 98 cavalier, temp gauge, bad computer

My temp gauge was working erradicatly.  I got the code out of computer it said the temp sensor was bad.  I replaced it but still have the problem.  The wiring seems to be ok, with 5 volts going to sensor.  
Could this be a bad computer.  The car has a 2.2 engine.

Hi Chris, The code would have been helpful here. I'm sure it is not the computer as I have not seen this type of problem with them. I think it must be the connector at the sensor. You should replace the connector or test the wiring from the sensor to the computer to locate the bad wire.
