Question90 Cavalier Z24, 3.1, 220k miles
Van, thanks for your time, a few questions about replacing a CV joint:
- level of difficulty, can someone with moderate technical ability do the work?
- should both wheels be done or just the problem one?
- which parts s/b replaced?
- if the work s/b done in a shop how much time would you estimate for the job?
Thanks again.
AnswerHello Brian,
Someone with a moderate ability should be able to do it in the driveway in just a few hours, but I would recommend replacing with a rebuilt assembly, rather than rebuilding yourself. They really are not all that expensive.
If there is nothing wrong with one of them, save it to do when it needs doing.
I would go to the public library, in the refference section, and research through some service manuals before you start.
