Chevrolet Repair: serpentine belt no tension, serpentine belt, idler pulley bearing
Questionthe spring idler or belt tensioning devise on my 93 chevrolet 30 van seems to be stuck in the slack position.(no tension on belt).what is the best way to fix the problem.is it a big repair job? can it be fixed by a do it yourselfer?is it safe to drive it to a garage?
AnswerHi Robert, The first thing you need to do is inspect the things that the belt drivers to make sure there one hasn't failed. Like a idler pulley bearing or something. You can pull on the tensioner and if there is no spring tension then just replace it. It has one bolt in the middle that retains it.
Hope this helps
