QuestionI have a '83 Chevy G-20 Sports van
one of several problems im working on figuring out is that it pushes very little air through vents; some air from vents under windsheild, almost none from the others. the air is also BARELY luke warm. Tonight it started a high pitched "squeal" whenever I turned the fan on - reguadless of heat settings.
My guess is partly the blower motor, but i have no auto repair knowledge beyond guess-and-by-golly! suggestions?
AnswerHi Duncan,
The squeel is probably the motor, but it is possible the fan isn't even turning. Air should be going somewhere.
There should only be three or four screws holding the motor in the housing, and the blower fan comes out with it.
Then test it outside the housing.
While it is out, look in the hole where it was, for dirt, paper, grass, etc.
The A/C or heater core could be completely plugged with a mat of crud.
