Chevrolet Repair: rough idle, 99 cavalier, spark plug wire, rally sport

hi mark, my 1999 cavalier rally sport has a 2.2 with 70000 miles and idles very rough, i have replaced the plugs and wires and now the check engine light is on. it does not show a code but comes up multiple misfires. the problem is getting worse. thanks for your time mark and any help you can offer.      john

Hello John, You need to find out which cylinders are misfiring. To do this remove a spark plug wire from the spark plug while the engine is running, listen to the engine when you do this to see which one doesn't effect the way it is running. Now check for spark at that wire, should jump at least 3/4 of a inch and be blue. If that is good then I would look at the injector, could be plugged up and not letting fuel into the cylinder.
