Chevrolet Repair: car running hot, coolant level, neddle

Question
My check guage light came on and then I noticed that my temp neddle was in the red.

Step by step what should I do first?

Hi Sherrie, When the engine is cold remove the radiator and check the coolant level. If it is low fill it up. Now you need to have it checked for leaks. Common leaks are...waterpump and intake manifold. Stop leak will not fix these so don't put it in! It could be a slow leak and you might be able to drive it to a shop.
