Chevrolet Repair: FUEL SYS, fuel gauge, wire connections

Where is the transmitting device for 97 Chevy G1500 Van fuel gauge?  Mine is erratic through the middle levels? Thanks in advance.

It's in the tank, but wire connections and the guage are possibilities also.
I recommend you find a Motors or Mitchell manual covering your vehicle, and read the instrument troubleshooting proceedure.
You can look at manuals in the public library, refference section, or at Hastings book stores.
