car is overheating water is backing up the coolant add tank and out the overflow.thermostat? and if so where is it?

Hi Jim,
The thermostat housing is located under the throttle body. There is coolant inlet elbow mounted on the side of the housing inside of which is the thermostat which has vent that is positioned upward. So drain water to below that housing level, then remove the outlet cover and then the thermostat and test whether it is opening. The bolts on the elbow are tightened to 14 foot-pounds.
