QuestionQUESTION: Long story short. Car went into limp mode, replaced solenoid
pack. Took to dealer and these are the codes.1792 0605 found
internal fault in tcm...is this accurate? Also replace in and
outboard speedsensors since they didn't cost to much. Car has
58,182 miles. Thanks.
ANSWER: Hi Terry,
Before doing the tcm replacement it would be desireable to check the wiring between the tcm and the power supply sources and grounding points. Both codes point to a tcm non-function, but both speak to a loss of power either as a possiblie cause (0605) or as actually having occured(1792). So it may be a wiring problem. Is this Sebring a convertible/sedan or a 2dr coupe model? Those are different cars so if you want to verify the wiring I can tell you what to check but I need to know what you have there. If the wiring does check out, then the tcm replacement is in order.

QUESTION: Car is a convertible limited.
AnswerHi Terry,
The TCM plug's wires to check are:
tcm pin: connects to: wire color: purpose:
8 starter relay, left front pin 9 yellow ignition switch (start)
11 fuse 11 in dash red/white ign. sw. (off-run-start)
51 pcm 43 black/light blue sensor ground
53 chassis ground black/yellow power ground
56 fuse 9 in pdc black fused 12v
57 chassis ground black/red power ground
Shake the harness while checking each of these for a possible loose connection as well as a frank 'open'.
