Hi Robert,
Each rear wheels is independently attached to the chassis, just like the front suspension. It sounds to me as if something is broken/disconnected at one side or the other. I would go to an wheel alignment shop and ask them to drive the car, and then to inspect the rear suspension to find out why this is happening.
