QuestionMy newly purchased used Town and Country almost immediately started stalling when the van was warmed up. It happens when starting to accelerate from a stop sign and when accelerating after slowly turning a corner. Occasionally the "Check Engine Light" comes on but it goes off as well.
I did the key-on, key-off, key-on, key-off, key-on sequence and got the 12-61-55 codes indicating an error 61. I see that means "Code 61 -Barometric pressure out of range (Key-On)-MAP sensor has a baro reading below an acceptable value."
My questions are this:
Is it the MAP sensor that needs replacing or is there a separate Baro sensor inline to the MAP sensor?
Also, in a 1996 where would I find the Baro Sensor/MAP Sensor? Is there a picture of it somewhere and is it reasonable to think that someone that is fairly mechanically inclined could replace it? I took auto shop years ago...
Thanks a lot. Your articles are very helpful.

Hi Steph,
The problem is either the MAP or its wiring may be damaged. It is located (3.3/3.8L) screwed into the side of the intake manifold, just below the PCV valve (and inline with the to the top of the "3.3" lettering). It has a three wire connector (violet/white, dark green/blue, black/light blue). So look over the wires from the sensor to the harness for signs of insulation melting and if none replace the sensor. The MAP is a BARO sensor so it is one and the same. Easy to replace once you locate it.
