Chrysler Repair: 2000 Cherokee: loss of communication after battery replaced, battery cables, battery engine

battery went dead all the sudden, would not start and never had any problems in the past. Replaced the battery, engine turns over, but doesnt even attempt to start. warning light on dash says  it is    not reconizing electronic key?  Is there a reset procedure for the computer ?   thanks

Hi David,
Try removing the battery cables again, touch them together for 30 seconds, then reattach the cables to the battery. That is called a 'soft reset' of the digital data system and may resolve the problem.
