Chrysler Repair: Town & Country 1999 steering column loose, alignment shop, front end alignment

I adjusted the steering column angle after my wife drove it and the column would not set.  It kept slipping up and down.  I had to hold it down to drive to work and back.

Hi Richard,
Just to be sure I understand, are you saying that the 'tilt' mechanism will not lock in a set position? If so, then it may just be a failure of a spring in the tilt 'locking mechanism'. Unfortunately there is no mention of a specific technique for remedying that in the shop manual. You might try a front end alignment shop to see if they have experience with how to repair the locking mechanism. I am always leary of the dealerships, but if you can't locate an independent alighnment shop then that may be the last resort. Sorry to not know specifically what part to get,etc. I have not experienced this myself, nor has anyone before brought this sort of problem to me.
