QuestionQUESTION: Hi, I have a 96' Chrysler Town & Country LXI and a check engine light which when scanned shows the oxygen sensor heater is at fault. How do I access the part? It's apparently on top of the exhaust manifold, is this reached from under the hood or under the car? Can I remove without the special slotted socket tool? Lastly, do I necessarily have to remove other components to get to the OS heater?
ANSWER: Which one is it upstream or down stream o2? if u can u can get a wrench on it if not a special socket will be required to get it off.

QUESTION: It's scanned at a P0135 so it's upstream on the #1 plugs bank. So once again...under the car access? Difficult to get to? Upon removal should it be bench tested? If so what are the resistance numbers?
AnswerU wont be able to test it its a system that measures O2 based off a computer reading and voltage.
UPSTREAM OXYGEN SENSOR
The oxygen sensor is installed in the exhaust manifold Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor - 2.4L. or Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor - 3.0L. or Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor - 3.3/3.8L .
CAUTION: Do not pull on the oxygen sensor wire when unplugging the electrical connector.
WARNING: THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER MAY BE EXTREMELY HOT. USE CARE WHEN SERVICING THE OXYGEN SENSOR.
REMOVAL
Raise and support vehicle.
Unplug oxygen sensor electrical connector.
Use a socket such as Snap-On YA8875 or equivalent to remove sensor.
When the sensor is removed, the exhaust manifold threads must be cleaned with an 18 mm X 1.5 + 6E tap. If using original sensor, coat the threads with Loctite 771-64 anti-seize compound or equivalent.
INSTALLATION
Reverse removal procedure to install a new sensor
New sensors are packaged with compound on the threads and no additional compound is required. The sensor must be tightened to 27 N·m (20 ft. lbs.) torque
