Chrysler Repair: 98 sebring thermostat, inlet hose, cyl engine

Question
where is the thermostat for a 98 jx convertible with the 2.5 liter. when i ordered
the part and tried to put it where i thought it would go the thermostat was way
to  big. the gasket looked like the right size. i ended up using one for the 4 cyl
engine. want to make sure before drive it. thanks

THERMOSTAT - 2.5L
REMOVAL
Drain cooling system to the thermostat level or below.
Remove inlet hose and bolts from coolant elbow. Remove elbow. Thermostat, Housing and Inlet Elbow
Remove thermostat assembly, and clean sealing surfaces.
INSTALLATION
Install thermostat into the recess in the thermostat housing. Install inlet elbow and tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (133 in. lbs.) Thermostat, Housing and Inlet Elbow
Fill cooling system. Refer to Refilling System outlined in this section.
