QuestionQUESTION: Hi Kevin recently I left the oil cap off my 1998 sebring conv it caught fire I replaced the electrical loom and validated that every wire was the same as original.
when i turn the key on every thing appears to be correct, and powered but the fuel pump doesn't come on and the engine will not crank, I can crank the engine by manually pushing in the contact on the starter relay?
I was told because I took it apart the car security thinks its stolen and will not let it start?
I thought it would turn over and try to start if that was the case?
Thanks Ed
ANSWER: u would be looking at a control issue from the pcm either a the security issue or u nuked the pcm in the fire.

QUESTION: Kevin the PCM was cocked I installed a new PCM, car started for several seconds and then turned off I attempted about 6 times now nothing, I live in nj far from you, in GA, I taked to a local dealer they said that will be 100 per hr, I have been able to rebuild this car after the fire, everything but long block and trans, and I hate to give into someone that thinks you have to have years working for chrysler to make these repairs, so is there anyone that can besides a deal reset this PCM.
Answerits not the experience that they would be talking about it would be the system u are working with it sounds like the alarm was tripped thats why it runs for a few seconds then dies. Do u have a gray key and is the little red light blinking? If u have a gray key u will haft to have the dealer program the key to your car no way around it. If its just the normal key and u have an alarm use the key fob or lock and unlock the doors see if that will turn it off for u.
