Chrysler Repair: My check engine light came on, speed sensors, output speed

As soon as my check engine light came on my transmission will not change from a low gear.  Does this mean my transmission is bad or something else.  A friend told me that the computer has detected some problem, might not be the transmission.  That Chrysler has a system build in do disable the transmission to make me bring it in for service.  Is this true?  Thanks Dave

not to bring it into service  but to make sure that u dont blow it up if there is an issue.  Get the codes scanned and if u have a code for input out output speed sensors  get those replaced.I live in the Atlanta area I would be glad to look at it for u.
