Chrysler Repair: 87 New Yorker 2.2L turbo: oil leak at distributor, distributor shaft, spark plug wire
QuestionI have an oil leak where the spark plug wire distributor assembly mates with the engine block of this 2.2 liter Turbo. Its a remanufactureed engine with 19 K on it. Are there worn out O-Rings on the distributor shaft that could be causing the leaking or a seal of some sort that needs to be replaced?
AnswerHi Ralph,
Fortunately I have the parts catalog and indeed there is an O-ring for that distributor (#6031 594). So check with a dealer to get it. You will have to reset the distributor timing with a timing light: engine warm, at idle, with coolant temp sensor plug removed to be at 12 BTDC.
That should deal with your leak.
