QuestionHey Roland ..
I've got a little problem with my car '00 Cirrus LX 4.2L
I have 7 error codes after replacing the Solenoid Pack, Input/Output Speed Senors, Fluid & Filter. Sparkplugs, couple of air hoses, etc. I had the 1st two codes before I did the work and they car is the same or worse than before. I don't know what to do. I think a couple of these codes are indicating slippage in the clutches and the car doesn't like to idle so I agree with the running rich part although I can't figure out why? Anyway, from my research, this is what I've got. Can you help?
Code Make Description
P0172 Generic System Too Rich (Bank 1)
P0700 Generic Transmission Control System (MIL Request)
P0732 Generic Gear 2 Incorrect Ratio
P0734 Generic Gear 4 Incorrect Ratio
P1775 Chrysler Solenoid switch valve latched in the LU position
P1782 Chrysler Pressure switch circuit: 2-4
P1784 Chrysler Pressure switch circuit: LR
AnswerHi Michael,
That is an impressive list of problems. I guess as far as the too rich goes, if there is no problem detected with the oxygen sensors it might mean an injector that is leaky.
On the transmission, I can't think of any simple solution for all those codes. The ratio codes do suggest slippage which means internal clutch repairs needed. That is unfortunately expensive. If you know the history of the trans and how it has been driven, then if it was not abused I would contemplated finding an honest competent shop to do that. The switch circuits are easy to check with a test meter but I don't know whether they could be a cause or an effect of the clutch codes. I would focus on finding the shop to do the job right. There is a troubleshooting manual for that transmission that follows a 'tree' of test/response steps and that might be the kind of approach the right shop would follow. So see if they have such a manual.
