Chrysler Repair: Radio: am works but not fm, antenna wire, fm signal

my husband replace our truck battery  and  after that  the fm on our radio doesn't work  i  thought  he  fried it  so i  got another one on ebay  same  make   same thing the fm doesn't work , am works  ok   any idea  thanks

Hi Sandy,
I would check the antenna wire fitting at the radio and if accessible at the mounting point on the body. The fm reception is more highly dependent upon a properly wired antenna compared to the am signals. Perhaps the outer braided shell of the wire has come unsoldered from the connector fitting at either end, which would kill the fm signal while still alowing the am to function.
