QuestionThis is embarrassing. I have a 1989 town car in which I'm attempting to install a new battery. I say "attempting" because I've forgotten the polarity of the connecting wires. Does the shorter of the two connect to the negative or positive terminal?
AnswerHi Bill:
You can't go by a short or long wire. Three options...
1. Red is for Positive and Black for Negative. If your wires are not Red & Black, then
2. + sign on wire post is positive (red) and - on post is negative (black)
3. Wire connected to Starter is positive (+ or red) and wire connected to just metal is negative (- or black)
Your wires should match one of these descriptions. Good luck, but don't connect them wrong are you will blow the battery!
