Classic/Antique Car Repair: starting issue, 1963 thunderbird, starter solenoid, mallory distributor
QuestionHi, thanks for taking my question. I have 1963 Thunderbird. Replaced ignition switch, solenoid. car will start jumping solenoid with key on, but requires extensive cranking to start with ignition only. Installed mallory distributor. Does car possibly have bad resistor wire. Solutions? thanks again
AnswerIf it was the resistor wire you would have a problem with running the engine not starting. The I terminal on the starter solenoid is supposed to bring 12 volts to the ignition coil by passing the resistor wire for starting. Do you have a voltmeter for testing? Let me know.
