QUESTION: car starts up but then bogs down...wont stay on. i haven't done any work to it yet but check the spark plugs and they were fine...any suggestion would be fine...thanks

Have you kept it running long enough to see if it is the same once it is warmed up?  Does the choke work? Have you choke it externally and seen if it made a difference?

You should check fuel filter and pump operation. Also make sure there are know vacuum leaks.

Barring all the above, you need to rebuild carb.
