Classic/Antique Car Repair: tuning my carburuter, vacuum gauge, chev 283 engine

i got a stock to 4 barrel carby in my 57 chev 283 engine and it running to rich how do i tune it to run right ? thanks      what do i need to do to tune it?

Quadrajets tend to carbon up on the throats real bad. Before you adjust, spray heavily on the inside with carb cleaner. After cleaning, hook a vacuum gauge up to warm engine. Then adjust mixture screws, first one then the other. Go back and forth several times to obtain the highest vacuum possible.
