Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1967 Mercury Couger not charging, mercury couger, positive cable

At first my 1967 cougar was not charging, so I replaced the alternator and the voltage regulator with new parts and it is still not charging, so my question is, is there any other part that could cause it not to charge other than the wiring?

First things first.

How do you say it is not charging? By a volt meter at the battery cable or just battery not charging?  Have you removed the positive cable with the car running and seen if it dies or not? Did you put a meter on the output of the alternator? Regulator?

Did the regulator you bought need polarizing by manufacturer instructions?
