Classic/Antique Car Repair: steering box, gm search, 69 camaro

A friend (w/out computer) has an  all original 69 camaro. He wants to rebuild the steering box. Not replace with a rebuilt unit. So far all I can find are rebuilt units. Does someone have a rebuild kit? I'm early ford v8 guy, GM search is new to me.thanks john

Rebuilding a steering box is a very tricky proposition.  I don't know of anyone selling "kits" for this, probably because of the legal liability if the job goes bad.   I strongly advise that he let a pro take care of the steering box.   Even a minor error or oversight could leave him with a sudden loss of steering - these things are very intricate and easy to screw up!
