Classic/Antique Car Repair: master cylinder, brake master cylinder, inner cylinder

I cannot figure out how to disassemble brake master cylinder? I have removed from vehicle and removed all spring clips around shaft but cannot get inner cylinder to come out of housing.?
I have a 1976 MG midget

Sometimes they can be pretty gummed up. After you removed the reservoir, you should be able to see a point on the cylinder that you can pry it from. Be sure to use a non-burring tool. A good small piece of hardwood works good.

You can also sometimes help your cause by soaking with carb cleaner or diesel.
