QuestionDick,
I have a 1928 Studebaker Dictator that is in amazing condition. However, one of the headlight lenses is broken and both reflectors need recoating. Is there a company that sells reproduction lenses? What is the best way to recoat the reflectors?
AnswerFor the lens replacement, try this outfit:

For re-silvering, there was a place in Washington State that was re-doing them in anodized aluminum coating (much better optically than chrome) - actually better than the original silver for light reflectivity, but I have not heard of them for a few years. I heard a rumor that the guy who was doing it died (I hope not from inhaltion of aluminum fumes!)
I found this place with a google search - it may be the same process:
Steves Auto Restorations Inc, 4440 SE 174th, Portland, OR 97236-1381; www.stevesautorestorations.com & www.realsteel.com
They say they do resilvering, and also that they have a large selection of old lenses - so they would be someone to try for sure.
If you have not already done it, I advise you to join the Antique Studebaker Club - it's a great outfit, with very helpful people and a good publication. Contact them at:

Good luck!
