QuestionQUESTION: Having tranny problems. With cast iron powerglide?? first tranny fluid coming out of dip stick??Check level in neutral fill.line sometime comes pumping out?also at stop light slips out of gear??Any help before i go crazy. Thanks Roland
ANSWER: Hi, Roland
I have the old iron beast PG as well.
Try changing filter first? I had simler problem with mine slipping during left turn, so I replaced vac modulator then it was shifting fast out of first, errrr
no adjustment on those then I went and replaced filter, flushed system tried it again and i may have got lucky for now.
I still have yet to adjust the bands
But because you have fluid comming out the PG had 2 pumps one in rear and one may be failing causing back up? I'll look into it some more

QUESTION: Mike,What side of tranny is filter???And if it has bad pump can i replace it without taking tranny out????
ANSWER: Roland,
Have you tried to adjust the bands yet? let me know.
Other fella on here helped someone out with his adjustment not long ago.
Tighten 72 in.-lbs., back off 4 turns counterclockwise
Now this is your Low Band adjustment.
Lets not assume its in the pump yet

I get the letters backwards, I forgot I had spoken to you already about this tranny when I just answered the plug issue

QUESTION: Mike I'm not to shore where adjustment is right or left side???? Thanks so much Roland...I also have little vac leak in wiper switch.Would low vacuum have anything to do with this problem
AnswerRoland,
Any vacuum leak is a bad one, that would cause tranny issues and advance issues.
Buy a vacuum guage and test from manifold vacuum it should be I'd guess a steady 17 to 22 hg (small block) not sure on your motor but prolly somewhere around there.
So lets start with buying a vacuum guage, about 20 bucks
All this question stuff is still new to me, funny if I had car in front of me I may have put the two together and come up with vacuum leak but I'M still learning e-mail diagnostics..lol
keep me updated
