Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1948 Ford Coupe, engine firewall, numeric digits

Would you know where the VIN numbers would be stamped on the frame of this car? I have no engine, firewall was stripped before I got this and the doors have been redone previously.  Thanks

The number is stamped on top of the frame rail back near the firewall, on the driver's side.

If it was an 8 cylinder car, the VIN should start with 899A - then more numeric digits. The first car was #1984859.

If it was a 6, the VIN should start with 87HA - and the first car was #0536.
