Classic/Antique Car Repair: battery ground 54 chevrolet 210, 12 volt systems, 54 chevrolet

I have a 1954 Chevrolet 210 that was passed down from my grandparents. It runs on a 6 volt system. Does the battery ground positive or negative? Thanks, Dale

Chevrolets and all GM products are negative ground.  

Positive ground was used in most independents plus Ford and Chrysler products up until the mid 50s, when they all went to 12 volt systems.
