HI - I had a 396 / 325  and I put new piston rings in it and new h.d. valve springs in/out  with a manely ss 427 hyd. cam and hyd lifters, headers,alum. intake and a 750 dbbl. pumper holley and it ran so so good.
time at 6 or 8 btdc   try that.
