Classic/Antique Car Repair: 64 Impala dies when the key is released., ballast resistor, old chevy
QuestionI have a beautifully restored '64 Impala. It always started easily and ran good until a couple of weeks ago. It will start right up, but as soon as the key is released from the "start" position, it instantly dies. The problem sure seems a lot like one I had with an older Dodge once, and that was caused by a blown ballast resistor. Does my old Chevy have something like that? I've looked everywhere and can't find one. I also changed out the ignition switch and checked the wiring. Any ideas you have for me would be greatly appreciated. Thanx!
Answer Tom ;
Hi , well as far as the resistor , I never seen one on a 64 chevy. but I would have said its the switch , but you put one in, I would than go to the selonoid , and check all of the starting wires ,. there is a break someplace.
p.s. does the car have a alaram system on it
I thought I sent this out 2 days ago ,sorry
