Classic/Antique Car Repair: !950 Cadillac Radio, dennis thompson, direct email

I just bought a 1950 Cadillac. The radio  does not work, the knob used to change the stations will not turn. What do you think might be wrong?
Do you think this is something I might look at myself or should I send it out?

Dennis,
The shaft for the control may be corroded/rusted to the collar that holds it. It may also be possible that the tuning yoke assembly needs to be lubricated. Please contact me by direct Email for repair info about your caddie radio.
