Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1958 chevy 1/2 ton truck, external voltage, volt meter

1. Wiring diagram for replacing generator with alternator which has one terminal marked battery and plug labeled 1 & 2. I believe that the alternator will not require the external voltage regulator.

on that i'am not shure  as it might have to be polerized ?
that puts the pos+ flow going in the right way but i dont think you will need to do that i think it should work but be ready to pull that  wire of fast if any sparks or wires get hot i hope you are using a volt. meter and test lamp.
if it starts and runs test the alt. output a.s.a.p. if wrong shut it down and try again
