QuestionHi,
I own a 1971 Buick Gran Sport (GS), with the following:
455 engine, 4-spd muncie trans, bucket seats, hardtop, 4-whl drum brakes.
I intend to restore it someday, and I was wondering:
1. How many of this model were made? I'm curious how "rare" this vehicle is.
2. How much this vehicle could be worth fully restored (ball park estimate?).
Thanks a lot,
John
AnswerThis was a trim option on the Skylark series, but they are fairly rare. The model number is 43437, and the total production is 8268. The MSRP was $3666. The standard Skylark hardtop was $3421, so there was about $245 extra cost for the fancy trim and the 455 engine.
There were nearly 200,000 of the whole Skylark line made,m so this one represents less than 1/2 of 1% of Skylark production. The Convertible version was even rarer, with only 902 made.
