Classic/Antique Car Repair: My Radio, bel air, antenna

Question
I have a 1953 Bel Air 4 door.  It has the same radio that it had when it was new.  The radio turns on and the little light behind the screen comes on and I can sort of hear a humming sound but the radio doesn't every play any sound.  What should I do?  WBS

Hello Kyle,
First of all, check your antenna by subbing it with a cheap one from Walmart. Plug the antenna into the radio and hold it outside the car. If the radio now works then you will need a new antenna. IF the radio still will not receive with the subbed antanna please contact me direct for info on having your radio repaired.
