QuestionQUESTION: Engine is 3.3 MFI 2WD model. The van's battery runs down when key is off
and engine is cold. The radiator cooling fans come on intermittently
sometimes for long periods other times almost like fizzling short in wiring.
We pulled the relay to the fans so we could still use the van. Now the check
engine light is on because of the that. The Napa store said we need to replace
the coolant temperature sensor. We bought one and don't know where it is
located. We live in MN and do not have excessive heat in March, so we just
watch the temp gauge.
ANSWER: Next time dont take advice from a parts store that what they do is sell parts not fix cars.
U need a cooling fan relay not a temp sensor.
If u unplugged the relay under the van driver side on the frame rail then U already know where it is at.
FYI if the temp sensor was bad it would not be reading on your gauge correctly either to hot or not reading at all along with a check engine light as well.

QUESTION: Thanks for the quick reply. On the off chance it was the relay. I pulled the same
rating relay from the next spot on the fuse block and put it in the spot for the
radiator fans. Same result.

shoot I made a mistake the relay for got van is attached to the bumper on the driver side
