Dodge Repair: air bag light on dash, dodge dakota quad cab, dakota quad cab

I have a 2001 dodge dakota quad cab 3.9 v6 engine and the air bag  dash light comes on when driving for a awhile and then goes off and when turning a corner it comes on again,the truck has 73000 kms on it. Is there any thing i can do to fix this problem with out going to the dealer, could the sensor be dirty or the cold weather affected it, thank u bill

First off lets define what the light means... The light activates when there is a problem with the airbag arming thus while the light is on it will NOT deloy. A quick fix might be removing the connectors to the battery, resulting in a computer system restart possibly eliminating a false activation of the light, If the problem persists take it to the dealer for a diagnosis "due to the complexity of the entire airbag system".. do not attempt any kind of service to this system on your own.  Warm Regard,  Joe Kennedy
