Dodge Repair: 1985 dodge pickup, dodge pickup, eframe

Question
I own a 1985 dodge ram 250 royal se, The battery keeps heating up to the point of explosion when I drive it for a long period of time.  It swells up and smell real bad.  I have replaced one battery, and I am wondering if it is a voltage regulator or something like that.  If that is the case, is the voltage regulator in the alternator or a separate part located somewhere else. Any info will help thank you

this is a cable it could be bared some where touching th eframe on the truck . the first thing i would do is bring it to a shop and tel them what is going on they can check the voltage to see it it is over chargeing the bat and that is what is happeing to u pete
