Eagle Repair: Eagle Vision Backfiring, eagle vision esi, spark plug wires

Question
I have a 1994 Eagle Vision ESI, 3.3L, with 125000 miles.  What would cause it to backfire (like small popping noise) numerous times when I step on the gas?

The exact same problem happened on my Eagle Vision 1994 3.3L with the exact same mileage, especially when the engine was cold.

After changing the spark plug wires the backfiring stopped.

Change those first and if the problem persists, you should have the ignition coil pack and module checked.
