Ford Repair: 1989 ford f150 i6 starting woes, fuel pump relay, 1989 ford f150
QuestionOk, I just bought this truck, and put a new starter in it, solonoid and a battery. I also had to put in a new fuel pump relay. I had to tighten up the distributor, and made sure everything was tdc and lined up on #1. I've got spark, and the fuel pump is running, at least the one on the front under the cab is, and I seem to have fuel pressure when I pop the line off the filter and turn the motor. I can get it to try to start if I spray fuel in, but its acting like its not gettting any fuel to the injectors. Is there an easy way to check this? Or should I get all upset and rip it all out and put a carb on the silly thing
AnswerHello Kris, you can check fuel pressure with a gage attached at the fuel rail. It needs a min. of 32 psi. It is possible the low pressure pump in the tank(s) are bad and not drawing the fuel to the main pump. That is where I would start 1st. Thanks Tony
