Ford Repair: Broken Gas Gauge, gas gauge, ford taurus

I have a 2000 Ford Taurus SE that has a broken fuel gauge. The needle will just go wherever it wants and never gives me an accurate reading. Is there a quick fix for this? If not how much do you think it could cost to repair this? Thank you.

you will probably need a tank sending unit-but their are other possibilities i would have it checked out instead of guessing time wise if the part is available it can probably be repaired the day it is checked out. cost depends on problem no matter what it will more than likely be 150 or over.
