QUESTION: Is the 1999 Ford Escort ZX2(mfg. 2/99), 2.0 liter DOHC motor an interferance type?

ANSWER: the book says yes but i have had several jump time with no damage yet. so i can't say for sure

QUESTION: On this same car ('99 Ford Escort ZX2(mfg.2/99), 2.0 liter DOHC), how should I set up the camshafts when replacing a timing belt that is broken? Should the notch on the back end be Flush with the head surface? Should the cam lobes be facing a certain way?  Thanks.

they make a special tool for alignment-the slots on back have a strait edge that goes through both of them and a bolt that lines up through block for crank for a small fee a local shop may rent them to you with instructions or may just charge a deposit check it out and see.
