Ford Repair: Parking lights/panel lights/brake lights, radio wires, aftermarket radio

I own a '93 2.3 l Ranger and when I turn the head lights on I lose the panel and parking lights.  I can slide the switch in a bit and get to what I call the "happy place" where everything comes on.  I have no brake lights when the headlights are on or off, but if I get to the "happy place, they come on like they're supposed to.  I have changed the headlight switch and also torn apart the multi-function switch connectors on the turn signal stalk and hit them both with contact cleaner- I'm suspecting this being a ground issue but hey, who knows?

you are correct who knows-take this to a reputable garage and let them check it-you'll probably save some money and aggravation

if it has an aftermarket radio you may want to unplug it first though
people have a bad habit of hooking one of radio wires to cluster lights which messes everthing up.
