Ford Repair: 1999 Ford Ranger, fuel pressure regulator, vacuum leak
QuestionMy truck was running fine until Tuesday morning when I went out to go to work. It started fine, but it was idling really rough and sputtering then it stalled. This was the case after several attempts. I have no idea what is wrong or why. Could you give me any advice as to why this is happening and what I can do about it? Thanks!
Answerdid it rain monday night and maybe plug wires or ignition system got damp
will it rev up-are you getting black smoke maybe fuel pressure regulator busted-pull vacuum hose off of regulator after trying to start it and see if any gas is in vacuum hose if so replace regulator
check connections at battery especially smaller ground wire off of negative side of battery unplug connector and check for corrosion
take small hammer and gently and i do mean gently tap on idle air control motor on throttle bore will be a silver or aluminum looking piece with probably a gold metal motor on it with two wires going to it
will it run after a few minutes if so may have intake manifold o-rings leaking
listen for hissing noise in engine compartment which would mean vacuum leak.
good luck.
