Ford Repair: heater fan, water leaks, splash shield
QuestionI have a '05 Taurus. My heater (interior) fan only works part time. It will come on and work for a while then next time I drive it won't work at all. Doing without A/C is no real problem, but with cold weather around the corner, I'll need a fan for the defrost. I'm a poor, underpaid cook. What could cause this problem? Thanks for your help.
AnswerPhillip,
Water may have entered the blower motor fresh air intake. This could leak and short the blower motor and/or the resistor.
Ford has a TSB on this issue.
You may need a splash shield installed along with a new right side cowl screen if the one on your car is warped. This is explained in the TSB that was issued for your problem.
I hope this helps,
